Breath of Balance

Morning jog in the countryside

Hello and welcome to Breath of Balance where we talk about how to balance your personal health and wellness with the chaotic world around us.

For the relatively short amount of time I have existed in this crazy thing we call life. I have come to understand that it is not the great declarations of change that move us forward on our journey of discovering who we want to be in this life. It is the small practices, the moments that we spend in the pure presence of self, with a deep breath and smile knowing we got this.

It’s in those moments that we turn another degree closer to our true life’s direction.

Thank you for choosing to come along with me. In this weekly newsletter I will talk about the small things. The practices that I have used that have allowed me to find balance and the new topics and practices I will continue to learn along the way.

Boost Your Mood This Summer — Get Moving Outdoors!

Looking for a natural way to feel better this summer? Step outside! Outdoor exercise isn’t just good for your physical health — it can do wonders for your mood, too.

Here’s why getting active outdoors during the sunny season can make a big difference:

☀️ Sunlight = Happiness
Sun exposure helps your body produce serotonin, a feel-good brain chemical that lifts your mood and boosts energy.

🌿 Nature Reduces Stress
Walking, biking, or stretching in green spaces lowers stress hormones and brings a sense of calm.

💤 Better Sleep, Brighter Days
Outdoor activity supports better sleep at night — and good sleep is key to staying positive and energized.

👟 Fun, Fresh Air & Motivation
Changing scenery, fresh air, and outdoor variety make workouts more enjoyable and easier to stick with.

👫 Stay Social
From beach volleyball to group hikes and run clubs, summer is full of fun ways to move with friends — and connection is a great mood booster.

🌞 Quick Tips for Outdoor Exercise:

  • Exercise early or late to beat the heat

  • Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen

  • Try something new: paddleboarding, hiking, yoga in the park, or just a walk!

Takeaway:
A little sunshine, some movement, and a breath of fresh air can go a long way. This summer, step outside — your mind and body will thank you.

Summer Foods for Energy

When it’s hot out and you’re on the go, the right foods can keep your energy up and help your body bounce back.

Summer favorites, like watermelon, berries, and citrus fruits are super refreshing and packed with hydration.

Veggies, like cucumbers and leafy greens are great for keeping you cool and replenishing nutrients you lose when you sweat.

For a boost of energy, whole grains like quinoa or brown rice do the trick, and lean proteins—think grilled chicken, beans, or tofu—help your muscles recover after a workout or long day in the sun.

If you want something quick and tasty, a smoothie with fruit and yogurt is perfect for both energy and recovery. My personal favorite cool down summer snack is a home made Greek yogurt parfait with banana nut blend granola and extra strawberries.

Basically, eating fresh and colorful is the way to go in the summer!
